Christmas 2020

We all knew this year would be a bit different in terms of Christmas but thanks to new Government announcements about the tier system here in the UK, it looks like I may not see my family at all and so I'll be stuck on my own without even my housemate for company as he's since left (well, still in the process really). I knew that sooner or later the dark day would come when I would spend the festivities by myself but I never thought it would come this soon. It's one day of the year I really look forward too and I don't know what it will do to my mental health but at least it looks like I'll have some time off work which is always nice.

Anyway, enough doom and gloom and onto things of a more frilly nature. Recently I have bought a couple of new things. Another Clara dress (red and black with a black collar) I really wanted (despite the fact I probably have enough already) and a pair of blue ankle boots. I still need a replacement pair of black ankle boots and I would really love a pair of white ones and possible a pair of white knee high boots as well to fully go for that 1960s look. Now all I need is a place to wear them and it doesn't look like that's going to happen anytime soon due to the pandemic and unfortunately since the cold weather started I've been dressing for work less and less.

One further thing I would recommend is Sarah Keyworth's short radio series Are You a Boy or a Girl which explores her own gender fluidity and sexuality. There are four episodes, about 15 minutes each, and I really enjoyed it. The series can be found here (apologies if this may not be available in all regions): Sarah Keyworth: Are You A Boy or A Girl?

Still, there's a new Doctor Who special coming up and both UK and US versions of Drag Race are coming back in January. From looking at the intro videos online, long pointy nails seem to be in this year.

So anyway, I'll wish everyone out there a merry Christmas for the coming week and I'll leave you with a caption. This was created for my 25 Caps of Christmas thread on Rachel's Haven back in 2016 using an old Christmas card.

The Week in Crossdressing #5

I have a couple of things to add this week.

Firstly, I was able to get a skirt fixed for cosplay. I was a bit nervous as it's a bespoke garment but it seems to be fine now. I just need a couple more items including some shoes and I'll be able to wear it somewhere once conventions start up again. I have thought about getting some photographs done but right now they just end up being very poorly lit ones in my house unless I can sort out something else. I have also thought about getting some more professional ones done but I feel a bit sheepish about it because of the way I look which I think is mainly the hair and make-up aspect of it. It's like I would almost feel bad about wasting someone's time.

Last weekend I went out for a walk to a local park which I often do especially in my lunch hour while working from home just to get some exercise. Most times I'm dressed when I do so as I still enjoy dressing while working from home (winter leggings and thermal tights have been brilliant at the time of year, by the way) and this day I was wearing a black and white flowery dress, bright blue tights and knee length black boots plus a long black coat. Walking down the road I suddenly heard a screech of tyres and someone shout out "Is that a geezer?". Needless to say, I sped up quite a bit to get home. Apologies for sharing such a brief incident but I thought it would be interesting. At least I was convincing in some aspects I guess and I wonder if it would have been better with a wig.

One more thing which shows the flip side of crossdressing, I watched Theatre of Blood this week which is a horror movie from 1973 starring the legendary Vincent Price and the wonderful Dame Diana Rigg who passed away recently. Rigg was a fashion icon in her own right back in the 1960s when she took on her most famous role, that of Emma Peel in spy series The Avengers. The plot sees Price as an actor who takes revenge on the circle of critics that denied him an award by killing them in a variety of ways from the works of Shakespeare. Rigg takes on the role of the dutiful daughter who joins him in his criminal enterprise along with a gang of meth addicts.

So why am I telling you this? Does the master of horror don a dress? Well no not really although he does have a number of disguises but it's Diana Rigg who spends a great deal of the film clad in a curly wig, moustache and sunglasses and male drag as Price's accomplice. While I did mention the cross dressing killer trope a few weeks ago there isn't really a fetish element to this and it's more for a disguise than anything else. Rigg also has a few scenes clad in a lovely white top, skirt and go-go boots. The film is presently on Amazon Prime and if you are partial to some horror then I would definitely recommend it.

Hair

Despite my tech problems over the last few weeks at last I seem to have a new laptop so I'm still getting used to that which usually involves downloading all the stuff you had on the last one and yet it also seems somewhat needier as I'm getting a lot more pop-ups now...but you all probably don't want to hear about stuff like this.

Something bigger though is that my living situation may be about to change as my housemate is moving out soon although before all that he recently gifted me a wig that his girlfriend bought for reasons as yet unknown. Now, as I have said before, I've never really been one much for wigs as I've often found them a bit hot and cumbersome when I've worn them for cosplay. This one however, which is black with blonde highlights, is really comfortable and fits really nice. I think my cosplay wigs are often the cheapest I can buy too but this is quite well made. I've been trying it on more and more and seeing how it looks but it still looks rather odd with my face there and I can see it kind of sticking out.

I've been thinking a bit more about cosplay recently and I do follow quite a lot of other cosplayers on social media and right now I'm feeling a rather inadequate. I think with the kind of cosplay I do I feel I need to do the wigs and make-up part and it's something I've never really mastered or, to be honest, attempted much of. I think that's also why I've never tried to get some more proper pictures taken because I don't feel good enough. I don't see myself stopping anytime soon though as there are still some costumes I would love to wear but, thinking about it for a bit, I wonder if, although I started out with cosplay, I haven't moved on a bit and that my new cosplay has become the everyday. Putting together outfits for work (from home of course) or going out (when such things still happened) has become my main goal and what I want to do with my fashion for the moment. It's easier when it's all laid out for you of course but there's a lot of fun in the discovery and playing about with different clothes and looks.

My Week #9

I had hoped to complete (or even start) the third and final part of The Beach this week but unfortunately I haven't really had the time plus some technology issues. I was due to have a new laptop this week but looks like it was delivered to the wrong address or someone just plain stole it so that's a depressing thought. Not that I'm oblivious to the fact that people can be shits but I had a little more faith in humanity than that. Mistakes I can handle.

Anyway, in lieu of that I thought I would add a couple of things I saw this week. First up was the film Predestination which is a 2014 sci-fi movie starring Ethan Hawke and Sarah Snook that centres around time travel. I don't want to say an awful lot about it as it's best going in cold but if generally you like time travel movies then give this a go. It's still on Amazon Prime here in the UK. The film deals with transgender themes alongside those of identity although they aren't the main focus. The design aspect is brilliant too with some great 1960s style dresses for the Space Force sequences and a cool take on a time machine.

The other one is a music video. I'm surprised I've never done a series on music videos as there are more that deal with TG, crossdressing and body swapping than you would think. The below is the 2011 song TYP D.I.S.C.O by Israeli electro pop group The Young Professionals which also stars Israeli drag artist and gay icon Uriel Yekutiel.

Looking up the details for this post I'm surprised that this is nine years old. I know that musically I don't have my finger on the pulse much anymore but this is ridiculous. Anyway this is an excellent video with a cool 80s vibe to it and I'm thrilled that a male performer is wearing the same outfits as the female dancers. He's very Freddie Mercury too.

Short Dresses and Summer Fun

As I said last week there's quite a lot of stuff I want to do but time and equipment seems to be a factor especially this week since work has been a lot busier and I think I've been a bit more slack since lockdown.

I did find the time to buy a dress though. It's black and covered with white flowers, like a couple of other dresses I own, with long sleeves and it's a bit shorter than I would have liked so probably one to wear with tights. One reason I liked it was because it's quite 1960s which is always a plus with me. I've seen people wear shorter though so I should be able to make it work. It does seem appropriate that I'm working my way through 1960s Doctor Who too. Perhaps I now need to learn how to do mascara properly so I can really do the look. No beehives I expect though.

As I haven't got much to say this week I thought I would put up a summer-themed caption. This one was created for Jay Seaver at Rachel's Haven and features my Ember Montoya character. I've probably said this before but I love writing dialogue for her.

Enjoy!

My Week #8

This week I've mainly been working and continuing on with my Doctor Who rewatch however I have had some ideas about future things I'd like to do on here including putting up some more captions to celebrate my 10 years on Rachel's Haven and some tributes to some of the more stylish characters on the small screen. I've also had an idea for a short story I might write to put up here while I'm away on holiday in a few week's time. It involves a trip to the beach and my Silent Swapper entity.

Since I've been going into the office all week for the first time in months I haven't had much time to dress for work however I have now started playing around with the gender swap function on FaceApp and I'm loving the results so I'm now resisting the urge to transform all my photos. Using it on photos of me dressed though it's very much "oh so that's what that's supposed to look like". At least it's a new way of trying out certain outfit combinations and I would certainly give it a look if you're interested in what your female self would look like.

Check-Up #5

Well everyone, I finally bought some new clothes this week...ok so a replacement pair of blue tights for a pair I tore by accident. The colour is slightly off so I may still have to shop around but I'll keep them as I expect I'll find out what works with them. As they say over at Buzzfeed, the results will suprise you. One thing I'm proud of is my developing fashion sense and it's exciting to keep trying new things and new combinations of skirts, tights, tops etc. When everything finally clicks and you find an outfit you love then it feels so rewarding and you feel so good about it. I will write a lengthier piece about this at some point but I would just say it's something you learn over time so if you're in a quandry about starting to dress because you think you have little idea about women's fashion then don't worry as it will come in time and you will develop a style you like if you find it's something that you're into.

Speaking of tights I just wanted to mention Snag Tights. Some of my friends have highlighted how much they love these tights and how the company are struggling in this time of lockdown as are many others. Full disclosure: I've never tried the tights myself but I will be ordering some soon especially the Rasberry Pie pair and possibly the Beach Bum. They also seem to be using male models in a couple of shots too which is quite cool.

EDIT: Checking out the website they also specify that they are a fully inclusive brand and welcome people of all ages, sizes and genders which is pleasing to see.

https://snagtights.com/

One final thing I'll mention this week is a programme I was watching today. It was called My Life: I'm Not Just A Boy In A Dress and was a half hour programme shown on CBBC which I noticed as I was looking through the TV listings. Even at my age and despite working out some of my issues, my eyes are still drawn to any programmes to do with drag, crossdressing or explorations of gender identity as I still feel I may learn something about myself.  The programme centered on a lad named Lewis who at 14 has his own drag personality, Athena, and put on a drag show in his town with some of his friends. Shows like this usually bring back a lot of feelings I had as a teenager and how much I wish I had that sense of identity at that age but then I also grew up in a very different time and perhaps like anyone else I had to go through the things I did to become the person I am. At least it gives me hope for future generations. Drag itself has certainly changed and become a lot more acceptable since I was a teen which I expect is mainly down to Ru Paul's Drag Race. As with anything though I expect I would still have been too awkward and shy to do anything about it at that age.

Check-Up #3

As various lockdowns continue across the world (ours in the UK has just been extended for another 3 weeks) the world of fashion has been discussing the issue of how you dress while working from home. Sweatpants and a comfy jumper everyday or dressing to the nines just because it makes you feel good. Apparently the only clothing people are buying these days is tops specifically for meetings on video conferencing apps.

Blogging about what you wear while working from home and how it has affected your style has become the latest topic of the day however it's one I have covered before and as I have said it's a great opportunity for the crossdresser to experiment more and even wear 'to work' what we've always wanted to. Lockdown hasn't really changed my style at all as I gave up sweatpants a few years ago apart from the occasions when I've been quite ill and want to wear something other than pyjamas. Personally I do like to get up and change clothes as it helps me get up rather than stay in pyjamas all day plus even if you're staying at home to work I feel I would at least dress smart enough to make me feel good rather than dressing as if I've just dragged myself out of bed. I'm still dressing for work and still rather enjoying it although I fear I may be running out of outfits soon. Work wear has always been an interesting one for me and I've often been tempted to buy things but stopped myself because they are too work-y and I would never wear them. Perhaps when this is over I might treat myself a little more as I expect I'll still find myself doing a few days working from home.

So what about after lockdown? Well it could go two ways- either comfy and more casual clothes will take over as people don't want to give up their comfort to travel in to work again or the opposite and they will relish the opportunity to dress up and strut down the streets once more. Back in an earlier time (well, January) I remember reading about the Roaring Twenties in which the Bright Young Things used the post-war world to dress up and have fun. Wearing make-up was also fashionable too. We may be about to enter another recession or another great depression once we come out of this but I think there will be a lot of celebration too as we suddenly start appreciating the smaller things in life like just being able to go out go to the pub or cinema or have the opportunity to browse a clothes store. I certainly miss my weekends looking around various second hand stores for clothes.

I'm still ok where I am and at least I feel a little more settled now after the constant changes to daily life in the last month or so. I'll leave you with another little story I found about men now choosing to wear the jerseys of female sports stars.

It's All Yellow

My friends, I have crumbled.

Now, my pledge to stop buying clothes wasn't going to last forever of course but I had hoped to resist buying everything that caught my eye. Unless I bought a bigger wardrobe in the process. This week I did come away with a couple of purchases. I've mentioned before that I do want to cosplay Cher from Clueless in her yellow plaid suit at some point and this week I saw a lovely yellow cardigan that I could wear with it. It's not perfect as the original is lower cut and has bigger buttons but this should do until I find something closer but I still have to try it with the suit to see if it properly matches up. Also in cosplay, a friend of mine gave me some stuff to help with my Missy costume. I'm still looking into getting the actual suit which hopefully will be soon. The more I think about it, the more I'm looking forward to it.

The yellow cardie came along at the right time really as I have been looking into wearing brighter clothes as I do tend to go for blue and black quite a bit. Funnily enough in the last week I've seen a lot of mustard yellow tights around so it may be something that's coming back in at least for Winter. I actually have a pair myself. Dark red is also quite a Wintery colour I've seen around and I have a skirt which I bought quite cheap recently and I'm still finding out how wonderful it looks with various combinations of tops although it feels a little loose so I'm having to pair it with a belt quite a bit. Sometimes you need to feel that bit of bite to know that something is on.

One dress I did have my eye on was a lovely blue and black zig-zaged number with a slim black belt. also had a bit of a boob window. For a while, lots of clothes seemed to shapes randomly cut out of them. I remember seeing one range of jumpers advising the consumer to check the back lest they get home and find a dirty great hole in the back that was in fact intentionally there. I didn't try it on but I can't stop thinking about it so I may go for it if it's still there at the weekend. What I did buy however was a dress I think I mentioned a few weeks ago, it's a gold and black houndstooth patterned dress with a black collar. It was down to half price. I may have resisted but for the black tights I was wearing at the time and oh it just looked so good.

This week, with an informal staff day looming, I've been thinking about dressing for work again. I'm fairly confident I could handle it and I even have an outfit in mind I would feel comfortable in. Perhaps I'll wait and see how I feel in a couple of months. No links for this week but I hope you've enjoyed this little missive.

Changing Rooms

Today was not one of my betters ones.

So anyway I mentioned in my last post about a few skirts I had my eye on and today I went into the shop to try them on. Trying things on in a shop is one of the more stressful things I find about my little adventures in crossdressing. Luckily most around my way have a single unisex room (even though in most I have to approach an assistant and mumble my way through asking for a key while trying to conceal my possible purchase. Those are mostly second hand shops though but this time it's a chain store with both a male and female department.

I picked out my stuff, three miniskirts a black leather look one, a pink leather look one and a light brown one. There was a yellow tartan one which I have been coveting since I saw it because it looks very Cher from Clueless but unfortunately it wasn't there. Not wanting to take my chances with the women's changing room I slunk upstairs to the men's, grabbed a t-shirt to cover the skirts, and tried on the skirts. All too small for me. I picked out my usual size but it seems that means a touch smaller in this store. Oh well, that's sometimes the way it goes. I searched in vain for the right size but it wasn't there so I left. I was quite stressed at this point due to the usual fears and paranoia.

However, after a cup of tea and a look round some other stores I decided to return. Managed to find my size in the black mini and I finally found the yellow tartan skirt! This time I got a little bolder and went to the women's changing room and was promptly asked to go to the men's upstairs because it was the women's department. Of course I could have explained that although I was a man I was intending to purchase articles from the Womenswear department but I couldn't be bothered to offload all this on the poor shop assistant and cause a scene. So I slunk back up to Menswear (which must always be said in a John Inman type deep voice. I'm imagining it now), grabbed another t-shirt and tried to avoid eye-contact with the guy I met before.

Well, this time they seemed to fit except that the yellow tartan one had a fairly dodgy zip on it which I managed to get stuck! Yes, sometimes TG captions do come true. It was a fairly hot day anyway and I was getting more stressed with this thing plus I think there was a bit of a gap in the curtain in the changing area too so sweat was pouring down my face. Even though I've done this so many times I'm still aware of what the world at large thinks of it. My own fears, stresses and paranoia get the better of me and it makes me so angry and that causes me to crash and get depressed. So anyway I was able to wriggle out of it and get out of the changing room. Swapping the skirt for a better one and paying for it was a breeze compared to that and I was relieved to get out of there.

Except that when I got back home I found that I had inadvertently bought a smaller size in the yellow tartan skirt. The hanger lied to me. So anyway, I'll probably head up there early tomorrow to change it and hopefully I might even enjoy my purchases.

Oh and the girl in the bakery said she liked my nail polish. Which was nice. In case you're wondering, this weekend it's a sparkly red. Try to imagine Dorothy's ruby slippers from Wizard of Oz in liquid form and you have it. So anyway, swings and roundabouts.

Aftercon

Hey everyone.

I was going to write something about what happened to me this weekend. Something I was dreading but it turned out to be a really positive experience and actually has given me a renewed vigor for crossdressing.

However, I've not had the best time at work during the last week and actually for the past month which is ironic since I've taken some time off recently. Yesterday was a really low ebb for me. I'm sick of my fears getting the better of me and it seems like I'm constantly trying to prove myself time and time again. I just don't seem to develop and yesterday saw me chicken out of something important and lie about it afterwards.

It looks like I'll have to rectify this by the end of the week and I hope that things will get better during the coming weeks. I would really love to do another Fashionista post as there are quite a few things I've noticed recently. Don't know how much time I'll have this week anyway.

Oh, and I won the Haven caption contest for the first time in five years which has made me quite happy.

Anyway, hopefully more soon.

Update

Things haven't really got much better this week.

It kind of hit home to me last night how socially inept I am. In some ways it doesn't feel like any time has passed since I was mumbling around a sixth form social nearly 20 years ago. Of course I realise that I have changed in the intervening years. I'm more worldly, I have life experience and, yes I'm more confident but I still can't apply myself. I still get too intimidated.

A long time ago I thought that I would suddenly have this knowledge when I reach a certain age - I have a very specific memory of it while swimming in a pool - but that doesn't happen. It takes experience like everything else in life. I don't believe I can change though. It would have happened by now if it's going to but I think I'm stuck with myself a certain way for the rest of my life. It's why I don't think I should try therapy or anything like that. You can say whatever platitudes and do as many exercises you want, it's not going to change how of think or how you feel at a core level. It makes me so frustrated. I hate myself because of it. Is this how I'll be remembered? A fool? A drunk? A sissy? I guess as long as I'm remembered.

I think with my ex I'm either going to have to put up or shut now she's reappeared. Either I start talking to her again or just defriend her altogether.  Believe it or not though I think I'm genuinely close to being over her which is what makes last night so frustrating.

I had an idea for a short story too, well, a short piece of fiction. For a while I've been thinking of doing some Role Exchanger captions but not involving TG which of course means I can't really do them on the Haven plus I would have to find pictures. What I may do though is write one just as a short piece for here. I've had an idea and I've been thinking about it for the last few days and I really like it. At least there's the bank holiday coming up.

Temptation

Hello everyone.

I have been meaning to do updates before now but I've been finding myself a bit blocked recently. As any writer knows, sometimes the hardest thing to do can be just to make yourself sit down and actually write no matter what subject you happen to be writing about. Well, that's been my experience anyway.

Anyway, I had an experience today that I thought I would share. I was doing some shopping this morning and needed to buy a new pair of trousers. I went to the changing room and on a hook on the door was a pair of girls shorts and a pink lacy top. I wondered if the lady who had just vacated the room would be returning for the clothes but she never did. Having them there it was very tempting to try them on. It's just clothes after all isn't it?

I tried on my trousers and looked over at the clothes. Gingerly I tried on the shorts...and was surprised that they actually fit me. Then I started to wonder if there were CCTV cameras around and felt a bit embarrassed. I didn't see any though. The shorts felt nice, just like normal jeans really. I nearly tried on the top but felt it was a bit too small for me. For some reason I also felt that if I put them back wrong on the hanger then that would further expose me.

A small opportunity then but one I may have regretted if I passed it up. I've been watching a TV show recently, Drag Queens of London, which has given me a bit of renewed confidence.

My Week #7

It's been a stressful week, truth be told and I'll be glad come Christmas Eve when I'm off work.

Most of the people in my office have gone on holiday at the moment leaving me to do a lot of extra stuff like answer phones. I'm a secretary and I don't even get to wear a cute skirt or heels, heehee. This is really frustrating as I can't even get the work done I'm meant to be doing because I keep getting interrupted.

Anyway, I always look forward to Christmas and some time off plus I've been rewatching the entire Matt Smith era of Doctor Who in preparation for the Christmas special.

Sorry this isn't a happier post but Happy Christmas everyone :)

My Week #6

Hi everyone

Apologies for not updating this recently. There's still a lot I want to write about but at the moment I'm just a bit lethargic. I've had a busy few weeks at work, a flurry of new work like never before and then the catching up. I just don't feel that I'm on top of it right now.

I'm still hoping I might see that girl again but it's looking more unlikely and I'm filled with so much regret because of it.

I've also been trying to catch up with my DeviantArt account and I'm trying out a new roleplay chat room. This is proving to be a bit frustrating as after about 5 minutes after starting a personal chat with someone, they tend to go silent. I don't feel like I'm being given a fair chance. Of course I could leave but then there's the temptation that you might find someone you really click with. So exciting!

Hmm. Just watching the dating show Baggage on Channel 4. The girl is asked to choose between 2 pieces of made up 'baggage' from her potential suitor. Either he's a crossdresser or he will never share his bed with her. It turned out to be the latter but the amount of women shouting for crossdresser is quite encouraging. Even the girl said they could share clothes.

Anyway, hope to write more soon.

My Week#5

Apologies for not updating this sooner but it's been really busy lately.

Not been in the best of health recently, I have a cold at the moment.

I have been continuing trying to talk to strangers though and mostly succeeding apart from the last couple of days. It's all an exercise in confidence building and hopefully I may get to the stage where I'm just not scared of saying things at all. There are lots of times when I've wanted to, no matter how mundane, and felt bad because I couldn't get the words out.

However there is a reason why I'm finally typing. I'm going away for a weekend with friends in a couple of months and we usually have a fancy dress thing. This year there was going to be a Harry Pottter theme and I hadn't decided whether I was taking part yet. I had a message from a friend today asking me if I was going to take part...and told me a secret cos/crossplay twist.

This has of course piqued my interest but also set me wondering why he thought I would enjoy this. Now, obviously he has been present when I have crossplayed before and saw the Amy Pond photos (BTW really enjoying this latest series) but lately I have been getting annoyed that people expect me to do this and that if it's fancy dress the of course I'll turn up in a dress. This could be my own neurosis but it's also that I don't like doing what people expect, I don't like being stereotyped or anyone thinking they now exactly how I'm going to act.

Perhaps I could just shut up and enjoy myself. Would I though or do I think that I should just because I'm a crossdresser regardless of whether I might enjoy it? It's the same kind of dilemma that I've been struggling with for many years now.

I will expand on these details at another time but or now that's been my day.

My Week #4

Hey everyone.

Yup, not many updates this week. I really do mean to start posting properly at some point about areas of my life past and present.

This week I've largely been feeling like shit. I've had a cold all week that still hasn't cleared up not to mention various parts of my body aching. I had a day off work and went back after that which perhaps I shouldn't have done but then I would have just been hanging around the house thinking that I could have gone in to works after all. Erm ok so dresses and skirts then...dresses and skirts...oh ok here's something I've noticed recently, the rise in girls wearing patterned wellies.

This is just a brilliant idea, how come no-one has thought of this sooner. This is Britain for God's sake, it rains here constantly so how come stylish wellies haven't come about before? I'm surprised we don't have umbrellas with more pictures on like avatars. It's all you see of people sometimes.

Speaking of going out, this time last week I was at the London Film and Comic Con which was so much fun as it always is. I met Freema Agyeman, who played Martha Jones in Doctor Who and John Simm. John, of course, played the Master and Sam Tyler in Life on Mars which is one of my favourite genre series amongst many other roles. Human Traffic is still a great film about 1990s club culture.  I always thought he was the type of actor who didn't do these kind of shows so I was surprised to see him there and he was the person I mainly went to meet even though I do this show every year. I've always wanted to meet him.

My Week #3

Ok, so again I've meant to post different things this week but I've not had time so I thought I would be lazy and do the jumbo update which will probably include a lot of stuff that you're not interested in.

Anyway, I got a Kindle recently which is something I never thought would happen. At first I thought it wouldn't be much use especially for me as I have so many actual books to read already. Over time it became more popular and I suddenly cottoned onto the fact that it's like the book version of an iPod and that really appealed to me. A couple of my friends have also released e books recently and I wanted to support them. My housemate was selling his, so I bought it and have been reading with it all week. I'm really enjoying it although that may just be the novelty. There are so many books on offer now and they seem cheaper and easier to get so I can really see myself using it more. The only trouble was when I tried to download my first book, the billing address on my credit card didn't match my new one. I haven't used Amazon since I moved house last year. So I ended up with a call from the bank which always puts the frights up me since I have been a fraud victim twice before. Still, it got sorted out although they called my old number at first so I had some explaining to do to my parents.

After that I ended up watching Pirates of the Caribbean 4. Now, everyone moans at these sequels but, although the first movie was better, I still really enjoyed this. I went to see The Amazing Spider-Man yesterday and can't say I was that impressed with it. I don't see why we had to have another reboot for a start and although Andrew Garfield is a good actor, his Peter Parker was very furtive and geeky, he's just too much of a pretty boy. Martin Sheen was good as Uncle Ben though but overall it didn't feel fun enough for a Marvel movie.

My Week #2

I did mean to post a few things this week that I never got around to so here is one big jumble full of stuff.

First off we have Love Shaft. Now, this is a trashy dating show featuring not so bright young things which is much beloved and laughed at by myself and my housemate which goes out every Monday on E4. Basically, the contestant is in a lift and he/she faces a suitor on every floor which they then do an activity with before deciding whether to stay with or dump them for the one on the next floor. There were a couple of things I noticed this week, firstly the girl on there just did not like men with scoop necked t-shirts.

This seems to be a growing trend and it's one I think looks very feminine in a way. The male version of showing a bit of (waxed probably) chest. Now, I wouldn't think of wearing something like that because it's a bit poser-ish but it's just a thought that occurred to me. The second thing I noticed about the show was a segment where they had 3 guys kiss the blindfolded girl: the current lift guy, a dwarf and a transvestite. Who was wearing the same wig I wore when I dressed as Amy Pond *sigh*.

On Wednesday, I saw a girl swimming in the park in a very cute outfit. Pink mini-skirt and a 'Guns and Roses' T-shirt tied to her waist. She looked really nice. The same day I was watching an episode of Community and the always lovely Alison Brie was wearing a cute grey mini-skirt that I really loved.

There is another Doctor Who convention coming up and I wasn't going to go due to the dates clashing with something else and it being a wee bit expensive...and then they announce David Tennant and Billie Piper. This needs more serious consideration.

Well, I think that's about it for this week. There was a girl, someone I knew in college years ago, that I was kind of thinking of asking out bit I found out she's in a relationship. Oddly enough it doesn't affect me that much but at least I know. I may start trying a few dating websites.

My Week #1

Well, it's been an interesting week and one that got me thinking about my fears.

I had a task to do at work that I kept putting off and once I completed it, I wondered why I had put it off for so long. It got me thinking about a lot of stuff. Fear has always held me back when its come to romance and that fear ends up turning into self-loathing. Whenever I went to a club I always wanted to be a woman just sitting on a high stool, perhaps a long red dress, just waiting for someone to come up to her and talk. It's the starting point that I just need.

Anyway, off to the convention tomorrow. I'm not back at work until Wednesday and I have 3 days of drinking and star spotting to look forward to. I know I'm going to be nervous about my costume but hopefully I'll get through it.
